Esperanto speakers are spread across the USA—there may even be some near you! While we don’t publicly list email addresses for privacy reasons, you can easily reach out using our Contact Icon ✉️ (in the lower right corner). We strive to respond within 24 hours and will gladly connect you with fellow speakers in your area. Additionally, we’ll share online opportunities where you can practice, engage, and make new friends in Esperanto.

Meeting Opportunities

Looking for Esperanto events? EventaServo.org (maintained by UEA and in Esperanto) features in-person and online gatherings throughout the year and around the world. Since local, regional, and national in-person meetings in the USA change frequently, we don’t list them individually. For the most up-to-date information and a link to an online meeting, simply reach out using our Contact Icon ✉️ (in the lower right corner). We’re happy to connect you with the latest opportunities to engage with the Esperanto community!

Here is a Partial List of In-Person Meetings:

  • Esperanto- USA annual congress, which is normally in July and in a different location each year.
  • Printempa Esperanto-Renkontigo (PER) which is an intimate weekend event in March or April near –Boone, North Carolina.
  • Norda Okcidenta Regiona Esperanto-Konferenco (NOREK) which is normally in September in Oregon or Washington.
  • Aŭtuna Renkontiĝo de Esperanto (ARE), which is normally held in upstate New York in the Fall.
  • Chicago, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel, Hill, North Carolina, Seattle, St. Louis, Washington, D.C.

  • Mid-Atlantic Monthly Zoom Meeting. (All levels welcome), Third Sunday of the month.
  • Monthly: Los Angeles.
  • Monthly: Mid Atlantic Region.

Getting Involved

Join a Committee

Esperanto-USA relies on dedicated volunteers to help grow and support the community. Consider joining one of our committees:

  • Congress Planning – Help organize an engaging and memorable annual congress.
  • Communications – Assist with internal and external communication via email and social media.
  • Membership – Work on member retention and recruitment efforts.
  • Nominating – Identify candidates for the E-USA board and leadership roles.
  • Promotion – Spread the word about Esperanto to new audiences.
  • Regional Coordinators Network – Support and mentor local groups by sharing resources and event ideas.
  • Education – Develop and promote learning materials, courses, and resources for Esperanto students.
  • Projects – Organize and oversee special initiatives that support the growth of Esperanto in the U.S.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) bring together Esperanto speakers who share common passions. As a member of Esperanto-USA, you’re welcome to start your own SIG!

Ideas for Local Groups

Looking for inspiration for your in-person Esperanto meetings? Here are some great ways to bring people together:

1. Organize a Fun Activity

  • Invite the group for coffee, lunch, or dinner.
  • Go for a walk, hike, or play Frisbee golf.
  • Visit a museum, planetarium, or zoo.

2. Celebrate Special Esperanto Days

  • Esperanto Day (July 26)
  • Paralela Universo (Mid-August)
  • Zamenhof Day (December 15)

3. Encourage Interaction & Learning

  • Play conversation-based games like Story Cubes.
  • Read an Esperanto book or text together to improve language skills.
